CRITICS Good Omens

Sep 21, 2023 | Series Reviews

C.S. Lewis wrote "Letters from the Devil to his Nephew" in 1942, a story that remains timeless and imaginative today. But that's rarely the case when it comes to angels and demons in film and literature. In recent years, the procession of fictions, starring devils seems endless, especially in the field of animation and comedy. "Good Omens" is not the most unnecessary, but it is certainly a far cry from Lewis.

This version of Neil Giaman's popular novels has a budget and two sensational lead actors: Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Together they bring a certain spark to a story that has become repetitive, gratuitously offensive and deeply superficial. To make matters worse, the second season has fallen even further into routine and predictability.
